Welcome to Medisch Consult, the occupational health service that looks beyond absenteeism. We support organizations throughout the Netherlands in strengthening employability, vitality, and sustainable health.

Healthy, motivated, and ready for the future

In the coming years, good personnel will remain scarce. Therefore, it is important to retain and develop your people, as well as attract new talent. Medisch Consult helps you with this, ensuring employees stay on board longer, perform better, and contribute optimally to your organization.

We ensure your people stay healthy and vital (Care), recover quickly in case of absence (Cure), and strengthen leadership and continue to grow (Top Care). This keeps your organization strong, absenteeism low, and your team developing optimally. That is our mission. That is what we stand for.

More about us

Prevention is the best form of absence management

Preventing absenteeism starts with the manager. Employees who feel ill turn to their manager first. Therefore, that specific line is decisive for effective absence management and for its prevention.

As an occupational health service, we empower managers in their roles. We provide them with the exact tools they need to identify, support, and reduce absenteeism. Does HR also have an advisory role in this? Then we integrate seamlessly and strengthen this collaboration.

Together, we ensure control over absenteeism, fewer dropouts, and a healthy, vital organization.

Frequently asked questions

Is an occupational health service mandatory for every employer?

Yes, every employer is legally required to have a basic contract with an occupational health service (arbodienst). This contract defines the tasks and responsibilities. An occupational health service supports employers and employees in complying with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Arbowet). They help promote health, safety, and sustainable employability.

The occupational health service is independent and advises both employer and employee, provides guidance during sick leave, assesses employability, and plays an important role in prevention and health promotion.

When should I involve an occupational health service or company doctor?

With every sick report, even if you expect the employee to return quickly. In short-term absence, the role is usually limited, but in cases of frequent or questionable absence, the company doctor determines if someone is unfit for work. In cases of long-term illness, the company doctor creates a problem analysis within six weeks, which forms the basis for reintegration.

Who pays for the occupational health service or the company doctor?

The costs are borne entirely by the employer. This also applies to examinations and guidance within the framework of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

What are the benefits of an occupational health service for me as an employer?

An occupational health service helps you meet legal obligations, but above all, it helps in preventing and shortening absenteeism. Through timely intervention and sound advice, employees remain healthier and more productive, and you limit the financial and organizational consequences of illness.

Where can I find reliable information about working conditions?

The Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment has set up the Arboportaal for this purpose: www.arboportaal.nl. This site contains current and reliable information for both employers and employees.

What is task delegation within occupational health services?

Task delegation means that the company doctor transfers certain tasks to other experts, such as a recovery consultant or reintegration specialist. The company doctor always remains ultimately responsible and supervises the quality.

A task delegate can, for example, conduct conversations with employees about absence, monitor progress, and provide practical advice. Medical assessments regarding whether or not someone remains unfit for work are reserved exclusively for the company doctor.

The company doctor supervises, regularly discusses files with the task delegate, and remains ultimately responsible for the advice given to the employee and employer.

Task delegation ensures shorter waiting times, more attention for the employee, and more efficient guidance. This allows the company doctor to focus on more complex medical issues.
